Crepe Myrtle!

My Crepe Myrtle is starting to bloom. It
should bloom in June but my yard is so
shady that it does not get enough sun until
July. It is a prettier pinkish purple than the
photo shows. I have been told that the color
has to do with what kind of soil you have.
Of course and pink will be pink and purple
will be purple, but the shade has to do with the
soil.

Mom had these growing all over her yard in Florida - she loved them so. She use to quiz Mike and see if he remembered the name - he would always say "pink Martha"! They would just laugh and laugh.

I've heard that about hydrangea but not about crepe myrtle. Yours is so pretty! Ours is not blooming at all this year due to the late freeze I guess.
