Visiting

Went to visit my cousin Irene in the Mts. today.  Always get to see Jann, too, and that is a special treat.  I crocheted Irene a collar to wear with her blue dress, plus, a Bible bookmark.  I will say her ankles were swollen so that she was in pain.  Her blood is way too thin.  Jann made her eat mustard greens yesterday to try to bring it up.  She still is not a whiner with all these afflictions.   Each time I come seems she’s smaller than the month previous, melting away.  It rained a little while we were there and she said, “oh, thank you, Jesus.”

Cousin Irene’s yard is always full of blooms.  The purple flower is called Obedient Plant.  It’s in the mint family.  Her red rose was just beautiful.  The Hibiscus is one her son Stanley gave her for her birthday last March.   When Margaret and I  drive away from Ben Hur, I’m always thankful and count myself lucky to just know her.

Preparing for Death

Laura and I left here at 4:30 to walk.  We pushed out 45 minutes.  Phinnie was so sad.   I succumbed to his wish and walked again over to Galla Pond.  We saw the same wildflowers—Tickseed, Common Daisy, Goldenrod, False Purple Foxglove and the wild Blue Aster. We still enjoyed their blooms even though we had seen them before.

I am preparing for my passing today.  I have an appointment this morning to draw up my will.  I am undecided about just what to do, but perhaps this lawyer will advise me.  I’ve known him all his days.  My Grandfather Powell wrote his will in March of 1810.  He died that October in Mercer County, Kentucky, aged 70.  He said he was in perfect state of mind and made his “in the name of God, Amen…”.   This means “in the name of God, so be it”.  I am not sick but I do not want to be unprepared so my death will be a burden on my children.  Baby Brother died with no will.  This was a wake up call to me.  Sister Fleta has completed her will.  I plan to follow her lead.

Egret or Pelican

I thought I was seeing Egrets across Galla Lake, but Eric said it was Pelicans.

Google said it was an Egret.

When the Moderna booster is approved, I’m ready.  I got my last Shingles and Flu shot today.  In30 days,I bet the booster is okayed and I’ll get in line.

New Days Beckons Me

If I’d just sat in the house, I would have missed all His glory.  It was a beautiful sky and I felt blessed to share it this morning.

Ready For The Rain

Ada is ready for rain.  When she eats home from day school, she says, “eat, eat”.  She’s ready for her snack and then wants to watch a little tv.  She’s not hard to please.

Wild Goldenrod

The wild Goldenrod was the star of my morning walk.  This pretty plant is blamed for allergies falsely.  It doesn’t produce pollen.  Insects pollinate it.

Running the Show

Ada likes to go to soccer practice with Greta.  She runs around playing.  Her shirt says “I run the show”.  It’s true!

Daughter’s Day

My daughters are a blessing.  Wishing them the best forever.

Settling In

Sister Helen’s getting all her stuff back in place.  Baby Brother made doors for her tv stable.  They have chicken wire in the doors.  He had not put then on and she wanted to get them installed.  At first they did not want to stay closed. She added a magnet latch.  She has the baseboards down and added quarter round.

I am anxious to go see her work.  Sigrid was elected RHS Homecoming Maid.  Next Friday, I’ll be busy applauding her.

She’s has to have two outfits.  She has ordered two more.  She’ll return two.  She does better ordering online.

Happy Face

Erin had to buyAda new duds.  Three is her new size.  She bought a few masks.  Ada was so proud of them.  Guess she sees others wearing them.  She is settling in to the new daycare, but oh, we miss Marge.  Marge turned 62 and retired.

Brother's Birthday

Clayton would be 77 today.  Doesn't sound really old.  He did not make it to 70.  Gilbert only hit 60.  All three of my brothers had short lives.

It is another beautiful day, cool and crisp.  It's Friday and all the week laborers are happy to see the weekend coming.  All days run together for me.

Cool Morning

Phinnie and I walked almost an hour.  This was the sweetest morning as it was only about 50 degrees.  I grabbed a jacket.  Fog was drifting up from Galla Lake and Pond.  I can still spy the Harvest Moon.  Took a photo of the moon smiling on my neighbors’ home.  I have the best neighbors.  A moody scene is created by the steam rising off the surface of the sun-lit water.  It is a beautiful sight, and one that becomes more common when the weather shifts from warm summer sunrises to crisp autumn mornings. The phenomenon has many names—steam fog, evaporation fog, frost smoke, sea smoke.   The fog will put one in melancholy mood.  It did me.  The water is your mind and memories of past float on the surface.  Some tinged with sadness.  Tears raising but only in your mind, not in your eyes.  Fog tears.

Pop’s old friend, Glen Chenowith has passed away.  Wonder how many car dents he repaired in his lifetime?  Too many to number.

Along Galla Creek Lane

Phinnie and I walked over to get the mail and saw all these wildflowers blooming along the road.  I guess the rain and today’s sun heightened their beauty.  I was drawn close with wonderment.  💛💛

These are the common daisy and beggar’s tickweed.

He Walks with Me

Common wild daisy
Road less taken beckons me.
Purple False Foxglove
Grandiflora
Blazing Star
Manchi and Star

I walked in his garden this morning.  He stopped the rain just long enough for my stroll.  That was blessing enough for me today.

He walks with me and He talks with me,

And He tells me I am his own;

And the joy we share as we tarry there,

None other has ever known

He speaks, and the sound of his voice is so sweet

The birds hush their singing,

And the melody that He gave to me

Within my heart is to ringing.
