Fog and Bitterweeds

Well, Laura and I were walking by 5 AM.  The head lamps were a bargain at Walmart—one dollar.  I have to wear a cap or the light reflects off my glasses and is bothersome.

I’ve been seeing lots of bitterweeds while walking.  They’re of the Aster family and make me think of my childhood on the farm and cows eating them.  These weeds made the milk undrinkable.    If the cows consume a lot of the blooms, they’re toxic, but just a few makes milk taste acidic.  I think they probably  like dry weather as that is what we’re having.

Cool mornings bring fog to Galla Lake.  The fog does sneak in on little cat feet sitting on its haunches silent.  Carl Sandburg said..

The fog comes

on little cat feet.

It sits looking

over harbor and city

on silent haunches

and then moves on.
