Books to Read

When it’s hot, I have an excuse to sit and read.  I just finished Dark Tides.  Philippa writes novels set in  old England.  This is her second in this series.  I can tell she plans to write another by the ending.  King Charles is on the throne.  The year is about 1670.

But the next best seller, I’m reading has me much more excited—Lincoln on the Verge—by Tim Wilmer.   He researched his subject ten years.  When Abraham Lincoln was elected President, he boarded a train February 11, 1861 in Springfield, Illinois and thirteen days later he arrived in Washington, D. C.  This map shows all his stops.  Every list I have ever read, lists this humble man as the greatest of our Presidents.  This little piece of his life has never been detailed to this extreme.   I hope to be wiser when I finish this book.
